David Bazan Australia Bound
By Charlie | July 9, 2008
David Bazan, the singer and songwritier behind Pedro The Lion and Headphones, is touring Australia for the first time. Now folks down under can experience the raw power of Bazan live. The tour embarks August 9th in Brisbane, Australia, with a total of five dates scheduled, ending August 16th.
Opening for Bazan is American group Clemente. Hailing from Atlanta, Clemente is the perfect pairing for Bazan, filled with moody and haunting songs. Bazan formed Pedro The Lion more than a decade ago, only recently retiring the moniker for a solo career. Moving from melancholic fables to personal and humble tales, Bazan fills his musical world with sympathetic and vulnerable characters capable of malice and compassion. His latest release, Fewer Moving Parts, saw Bazan in his most direct and straightforward approach, crafting songs of personal and political unease.
Word is, he has six new tunes now being played live. All you Aussie’s take notice. Bazan brings one of the most remarkable live sets. Armed with his trusty guitar and a steely sense of humor, he even gives his audience the benefit of a Q & A to go along with the enduring melodies and quiet brilliance. David Bazan is a true American songwriter.
