$1500 Donated to The Bird Rescue Center
By TG | May 7, 2008
The proceeds of our April 26th event were donated to the Bird Rescue Center on Tuesday, May 6th. Tom Whiteman, Rehabilitation Coordinator at the Center, gratefully accepted the donations and gave a tour and overview of the center where thousands of birds are routinely saved.
The continued success of The Bird Rescue Center depends directly on community donations in order to provide food and supplies to the many winged residents. The center takes between 2,500 and 3,000 wild native birds every year, comprised of over 140 species who reside within Sonoma County. In addition to rehabilitation and release, the center is committed to education and appreciation of the birds through school visits and community events.
The Bird Rescue Center holds open houses twice a month from 1-4pm on both the first Saturday and third Sunday every month, where these magnificent birds are available for viewing and visiting. With baby bird season just beginning, volunteers at the Bird Rescue Center are in high demand, and a necessary factor to the continued success of the center.
