Osama Bin Lama?
By nick g | March 24, 2008
“The Chinese government has begun an aggressive propaganda campaign aimed at persuading the public that China is the victim of separatist terrorist activity instigated by the Dalai Lama.”
So says the New York Times. I say Fuck You, China. Let Tibet off the hook.
Seriously, let’s consider this. Assuming the NY Times is right, and not just a propaganda machine itself, China is being worse than Bush. Hu Jintao is seriously in need of what my mom used to call an “attitude adjustment,” which basically meant a swat on the head or a spank on the ass. Hard.
Dalai Lama and terrorist in the same sentence? In the same paragraph, hell, in the same article, no less. Amazing. I am truly astounded that China is trying to brand the Dalai Lama as a terrorist. Osama Bin Lama. The Dalai Laden. Good job, China. You’ve truly gone nutballs.
Beating monks is not a good PR move, and then you go out and label this Buddhist monk a terrorist. Says the Dalai Lama’s Web site, his first commitment is “the promotion of human values such as compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, contentment and self-discipline.” China? Their Web site says “We hate Buddhist Monks,” and that’s it. Kinda creepy, really.
It’s annoying when your country, supposedly the most powerful in the world, is an asshole. It’s even more disenchanting when the second most powerful country in the world is following the same path.
I hope India stays chill.
