    Save The Phoenix

    By Annie | September 12, 2009

I can’t possibly count all of the amazing shows that I have both attended and had the pleasure of playing at the Phoenix Theater. It has been a mainstay of the Sonoma County scene far before I began frequenting it back in High School, and it would be an immeasurable loss if The Phoenix had to finally close it’s doors.

I still remember taking my brother there for his first concert back when the Deftones played in the 90’s. After several songs on the balcony, he finally turned to me and stated that he would be ok if we went down amongst the crowd. And so we went, narrowly avoiding the mosh pit while I tried my best to protect him from the audience closing in around us. It was the first time we really bonded over music, and I’ll never forget it. I hope that one day I’ll be able to take my little brother there as well.

Take a minute to join the cause and get involved in any way you can on the facebook cause page, or over on The Phoenix’s main page.

deftones.. was that the white pony show? where they played new songs nobody had heard before and roked the shit out? and chino came out to be quiet and drive and blew a huuuuge smokepuff at the beginning? best pit ever. and a bunch of people snuck out back and under their semi trailer and met them after the show? and i got hit in the jaw and hurt for four days? you can tell me excitement level by the lack of proper punctuation and capitalization.

Hah, I believe that was the show. The one where they played two nights in a row and I made sure to go to both. When Willhaven opened and sounded awful and Neil turned to me and said “is this the deftones?” Yeah, I think that’s the one. And it was amazing.
