kicking it old school

Is it just me or would the newly announced lineup for The Outside Lands festival have been relevant, oh say, like ten years ago? I mean sure, there are a handful of bands that I wouldn’t mind seeing, but most of the acts date back to the bands I was seeing years ago in High School. And yes, I’m aware that last year’s headliners included Radiohead and Tom Petty - but Radiohead is still musically relevant, and Tom Petty is a damn legend. Dave Mathiew’s band? Is that really the best you could do? While attending for free last year, I did have a sneaking suspicion that all the “hip” indie bands that had been booked were the result of some clever ploy to appear authentic, but at least then I got to see bands like Black Mountain and Broken Social Scene.
Read on for the full line up. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good bands in there, it’s just really hard to get over some of the obvious not so great ones:

you know its gonna suck because they’re going to give pearl jam and dave matthews band like 2 hours and mars volta like 45 minutes. that’s one song.
