Noise Pop 2008!

Noise Pop is celebrating their 16th Birthday this year February 26th-March 2nd. The full schedule is now up at Noisepop.com including such acts as The Magnetic Fields, Cursive, Grand Archives, The Mountain Goats, and so many more. With such great bands, film screenings, art shows, and the crafty Noise Pop and Shop, this is sure to be the best Sweet Sixteen party you’ll ever go to.
Some of the bands we here at Tonegazer are excited to see:
Grand Archives: Even though every single music critic seems to be worshiping the new Band of Horses album, I frankly was disappointed. And trust me, I really wanted to like it. That’s where Grand Archives comes in. Apparently when former Band of Horses guitarist Mat Brooke left the band to pursue Grand Archives, he took a whole lot of the songwriting talent with him. Even though critics keep comparing Grand Archives to Band of Horses, naturally, they elicit a sound more comparable to Carissa’s Wierd, a band both Brooke and current BOH frontman Ben Bridwell were in for well over 8 years. With multi part vocal harmonies and melodic instrumental pleasantries, Grand Archives sit on the top of my list for Noise Pop bands to see.

cursive why? besides the fact they fucking rock, my ex-roomate just moved to maine. she also just met the ex-cellist of cursive living on her street. not saying we should all move to maine here, just maybe go see cursive and tell them this story. i’m sure they will be captured by it. very sure.
